For the first time, The Miracle League of Northampton County and The Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley met on the ballfield. At Coca Cola Park that is, the home of The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs! Some of the players from each league took the field by storm! The Iron Pigs players “buddied up” with the athletes, playing catch and cheering on our players as they were taking turns at bat, trying to hit it out of the ballpark! Some of the players from the Buffalo Bisons were so impressed, they came out of their dugout to play along too.
Iron Pigs players also visited the PPL Picnic Patio, stopping to chat and have photos taken with Miracle League athletes, families and fans and they handed out souvenir baseballs. There were raffles for an authentic Iron Pigs game jersey that was autographed by the team. A silent auction was held for the jerseys that the Iron Pigs players wore during the game that night. All of the proceeds will be shared between the two leagues.
It was a great night and we are looking forward to more events shared with our Lehigh Valley neighbors. Thank you Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs for making this a night we will always remember!
For those player who did not get an opportunity to play on the field at Coca-Cola Park a special game was played at Easton Rotary Field in the morning and we thank IronPigs Pitcher Tyler Knigge No, 15 for coming to the field and pitching to the players. So for many of our players and families it was a get day.
